"Supporting The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale Since 1964"

We are actively working to raise funds to support the children in our community

What’s Hip

Auxiliary member, Gaylene Ori, and former staff member Jen Godbehere, were instrumental in forming the “What’s Hip” program in 1995.  This is an 8-week program developed for teen age girls from our various clubs, to inform them of the various challenges our youth face today.  Each week the program includes open conversations with the teens, facilitated by trained and professional speakers on the sensitive issues they face on a daily basis.

As part of the celebration for completing the program, each girl participates in a professional fashion show, along with ten boys from our clubs, where each and every one of them is a star!  The Fashion Show is lead by Da Linda McDaniels, a former model and owner  of her own agency.  She teaches both the boys and girls how to walk down the runway, which builds their confidence and self esteem!  The youth are all taken shopping for clothes which they wear at the Fashion Show and get to keep after the function is over.

Many of the teens who completed this program have continued their success by being selected as a Youth of the Year candidate.  The What’s Hip program is another way we support our youth, helping them to achieve goals and pursue their dreams.

Scholarship Program

One of the centerpieces of The Auxiliary’s work is our Scholarship Program.  Over the years The Auxiliary has awarded more than 100 scholarships to deserving youth from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale.  Our endowed scholarship fund will ensure that this outstanding program continues.
